Into the wild

Welcome to the heart of Camp Järvsö – the forest!

With activities such as running, hiking, forest bathing, fishing, skiing, a 3D archery course that also serves as a nature trail featuring Nordic animals, and winter orienteering, among others. Grill at our barbecue spots or in our hut!

Running

Running is in our DNA, and we’ve found the perfect location for it! From morning jogs at sunrise and challenging trail routes to delightful long runs on tranquil gravel paths and trails. With endless trails, terrain, and gravel roads, as well as asphalt for marathon training, you’ll find the right running vibe surrounded by the blue mountains of Hälsingland!

Winter running with the crunch of snow under your shoes is an unbeatable feeling.

Forest Bathing

Shinrin-Yoku, the Japanese way of bathing your senses in the forest atmosphere. An immersive and meditative experience that numerous scientific studies have proven to heal body and soul alike! Join a guided tour with elements of simple yoga and meditation next to the trees or visit the Forest Bathroom on your own for rest and recharge.

Hiking

Everything from self-guided exploration in our forest to leader-led hikes through old pastures in a Hälsingland setting. We follow relatively uncharted calf-paths and adapt the length of the tour to the size of the group and the preferences of the participants.

3D Archery Course – Nature Trail with Nordic Animals

In the forest just above Östergården, with a fantastic view of Kalvsjön, you can try 3D archery (equipment rental not included). Camp Järvsö’s 3D archery course is 1 km long in hilly terrain, and along the marked forest path, there are 12 shooting stations where you shoot one arrow/station at a life-sized rubber animal from the Swedish forests such as deer, wolf, capercaillie, wolverine, fox, lynx, wild boar, owl, hare, crow, etc. Each animal has four scoring zones, with the heart being worth the most. Before heading out on the course, you’ll receive instructions and a chance to practice with a few arrows. Recommended for ages 10 and up, with guardian supervision required. It can become a fun family competition.

The Nordic animals are placed along a lovely forest trail, perfect for a pleasant walk.

During the winter months, the course is converted into a biathlon variant.

Air Rifle Range

Hitting the bullseye is tricky and requires practice, which you can find here. Or perhaps you want to challenge yourself in “run and shoot” (think biathlon). Guardians must accompany minors, and rifle rental is available at an additional cost.

Grill Hut

With room for 20-25 people, our hut is a natural gathering place for grill/music nights, adventure themes, conferences, lectures, and more. Anything can happen here! It’s the gateway to “Into the Wild” and serves as both a starting point and a nexus for all forest activities.

Perfect for families or conference groups as a beginning or ending to the evening.

XC Cycling

The entirety of Järvsö offers a wide range of options for XC cyclists. Camp Järvsö alone provides several kilometers of blue trails, and there is an ample amount of perfect gravel roads if you want to go on longer and more advanced tours.

If you are interested in coaching or group instruction, we offer instructor-led cycling several times a week (activity card required).

Berries and Mushrooms

Stone Age diet? Well, we won’t dwell on that whole thing, but we do have a fantastic forest where berries and mushrooms can be found whenever they are in season.

Fishing

Catch the fish for the evening’s grill or just enjoy the tranquility of the waters. Lake Kalvsjön is known for excellent fishing. If you don’t have your own equipment, you can rent it on-site. A fishing license is required.

Ice fishing in the winter works great! There are several ponds with both trout and char nearby.

Orienteering

Afraid of getting lost? Try our orienteering courses with varying difficulty levels. We offer several different courses of adventure orienteering. In addition, there’s also Camp Järvsö’s nature passport, where you can download the UsynligO app (free) to access a map and the orienteering course directly on your phone. That course has 20 controls and is very popular.
